Soft Butter Bakes started the way most good things do — with love (and my butter yellow KitchenAid). I was hosting events at my old Cloverdale apartment: this included lots of butter and a growing obsession with getting things just right. My first big bake was for a gathering at the “Cloverdale Cafe” — I wanted everything to feel special, from the spread on the table to the centrepiece cake. That baby blue heart cake was the one that started it all. When I got my first official cake order, I realized this could be something real.
Even with my love of baking, I couldn’t have done it without my partner. He encouraged me every step of the way and helped bring the visual identity of Soft Butter Bakes to life.
Every baked good is made to order, from scratch, with organic ingredients. Based in San Diego — sometimes Los Angeles.
As a kid, I always had a deep love for food — especially anything sweet. There was something magical about dessert: the way it could mark a celebration, comfort a difficult day, or simply make an ordinary moment feel special.
That feeling never left me. When I started baking, I realized I wasn’t just making cakes — I was trying to recreate that magic for someone else. Every order is a chance to do exactly that.
Long before Soft Butter Bakes, the Cloverdale Cafe, or that first baby blue cake — there was just a kid with a serious sweet tooth and a deep love for the feeling that good food brings.
